Gatlyn, affectionately nicknamed "The Shiny Copper Penny Boy" by his horse-show-friends (due to his glowing coat color), was extremely charismatic with a proud "look at me" attitude.
He was the first horse I ventured into the Halter division with. As a yearling, with only two months of training & conditioning at John McBride Training Center, Gatlyn achieved a Top Ten Sweepstakes Yearling Colt Award in a very competitive class of 27 horses at the prestigious Region 12 Championship Show.
I love this picture of us, named "waiting for our class".
I think it really portrays how comfortable we were with each other...

At three years old, Gatlyn started under saddle.
He was trained by myself, which -as you well can see- was not an easy task! I remember people at the horse show asking me "Is he broke?" when they watched Gatlyn on the longeline before his class. I answered "No, but hopefully he will be by the time I enter my class!"
This horse had so much spirit...

Gatlyn left this world behind for "Greener Pastures" at the tender age of 5, the day before our departure for what was going to be our first Regional Show in the performance division. After two years of tireless perseverance, we finally felt ready for it...yet never made it...

It seems so unfair
So many of our plans remain unsettled
So many of our dreams unfulfilled
So many one-on-ones left unspoken
I still long for you...
Gatlyn is survived by his two wonderful sons, MA LUCA Himself and FW Musgathir.
